A brief history of Arnold Gauge
In 1918, Henry Ford asked one of his trusted
quality engineers, Philip S. Arnold to improve the quality of his automotive
parts. In the basement of his home, Philip invented and began building
in-process grinding gages for Ford and other automotive companies. Before
long, these gages became so popular that he founded the Arnold Gauge Company,
and opened a shop in Flint, Michigan.
After over a half century of success, Lehr
Precision (Cincinnati, Ohio) purchased the company in 1973. While at Lehr, more
gauge products were added, among them an automatic gaging system from Cincinnati
Milacron. Finally in 1986, Arnold Gauge separated from Lehr.
In 1996, we outgrew our previous building and
moved to a newer, larger air-conditioned facility in Fairfield, Ohio.
Arnold Gauge continues to provide the industry's
best in-process grinding gage. We manufacture a complete line of automatic and
manual in-process gages, as well as custom gages and fixtures. We strive to
utilize the latest in CAD, CNC, CMM, and SPC technology to provide you with the
finest gaging solutions possible.
